Context. Metodo StandUp is Italy's first online platform for addiction treatment: a daily clinical path followed from home by people recovering from substance addiction, with live groups led by psychologists, coaches and psychiatrists. A uniquely delicate user base — people in a fragile moment of their lives — and highly sensitive health data.
What I built
I led the development of the user interface and designed the live audio/video streaming system built on the Zoom SDK, engineered to support up to 100 concurrent users per therapy session. Around it, a clinical CRM keeps track of patients, case managers, group scheduling and attendance.
Why it was hard
Group therapy online cannot fail mid-session: the experience has to survive reconnections, device switches and poor networks, with an interface that stays simple for users who are not tech-savvy and may be under real emotional stress. Accessibility and GDPR-grade protection of sensitive health data were day-one constraints, not afterthoughts.
Stack and results
High-performance Vue frontend on a Laravel (PHP) backend, MySQL and Redis, with end-to-end flows covered by Playwright. The platform runs daily live groups with up to 100 concurrent participants, serving thousands of users across Italy.
